Santa Barbara Aircraft Management Plans for $23 Million Purchase

Santa Barbara Aircraft Management (SBAM) entered into a $23 million agreement to purchase three Phenom 300 executive jets from Embraer Aircraft of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The Phenom 300 seats up to 10 passengers with the capabilities of flying non-stop from Santa Barbara to destinations such as Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Seattle, Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas, reaching speeds in excess of 500 mph. In addition, the Phenom 300 has the capability of servicing high altitude airports such as Aspen and Jackson Hole with the largest baggage capacity in this class of aircraft. The Phenom 300 can provide these services while maintaining estimated direct costs of $700 per hour (includes fuel and maintenance reserves), which is less than most turboprops.

The three Phenom 300 executive jets are scheduled for certification mid 2008 and completion mid 2009. SBAM plans to purchase additional aircraft as demand for services dictates.

William McBride and Jeffrey Clark are founders and owners of Santa Barbara Aircraft Management, with headquarters at Signature Flight Support at the Santa Barbara Airport. SBAM has successfully managed and acquired private jets in the Santa Barbara marketplace for the past five years, and is the first locally owned and operated fractional aircraft ownership business in the area. A locally based company will enable Central Coast residents to avoid costly repositioning normally associated with national fractional operators. Based on the aircraft owner’s mission requirements and usage, SBAM is able to offer ownership shares of these new aircraft beginning at $187,500.

“Embraer offers a remarkable line of aircraft,” explained Clark. “We’ll identify partners and match their mission requirements with Embraer’s product.”

A mock-up of the Phenom 300, along with Embraer’s largest corporate jet, the Legacy 600, will come to Santa Barbara on November 10, 2007. Interested buyers will have an opportunity to view these aircraft up close at a reception hosted by Santa Barbara Aircraft Management and Embraer.

Embraer (Empresa) is the world’s leading manufacturer of commercial jets up to 110 seats with 37 years of experience in designing, developing, manufacturing, selling and providing after sales support to aircraft for the Commercial Aviation, Executive Aviation, and Defense and Government segments. They are headquartered in Sao Jose dos Campos, State of Sao Paualo, Brazil.
